He actually described why printing money = debt = IOU always must end ultimately in a contractual "put up real cash" situation, i.e. something anyone can use to buy Goods & Services(Gold or an honest currency); or "we don't take your paper(IOUs) anymore(deadbeat).

Notice the lower the interest offered, the less demand there will be.
